An Introduction to Psychological Trauma | Adults | eLearning

Course Overview - Duration circa 90 minutes

Trauma affects the lives of millions of people and can have a wide range of negative impacts on individuals as well as the people and organisations who are there to support them.

This easy-to-use eLearning programme provides an understanding of trauma for anyone who works with adults - including social workers, educators, healthcare professionals and more.

Trauma is explored from a range of viewpoints including its social, biological, and behavioural aspects. It covers:

  • The nature of trauma, its major forms, and its causes
  • An understanding of how trauma affects the workings of the brain and the body
  • The effects of trauma on short-term behaviour and moods and long-term mental and physical health
  • The importance of resilience, and its potential to mitigate trauma’s effects

This training provides a broad overview of these topics and is designed for anyone providing care and support to adults affected by trauma - no prior knowledge or experience is required.

This comprehensive programme is a great starting point for those embarking on training and qualifications in trauma-informed approaches. It also provides a pragmatic, engaging and practical way for organisations to provide trauma-awareness training to their whole workforce.

This eLearning forms part of TAG’s suite of tools and resources to help organisations become trauma informed. A separate eLearning programme is also available for those working with children & young people.

Found this learning very interesting and engaging. It took me a lot longer than the suggested 90 minutes as I was making lots of notes. I was also able to make more sense of my personal reactions to situations as a result of this training.
